Clarence Darrow lived from 1857 to 1938. He was a lawyer and leading member of the American Civil Liberties Union. He was well-known for taking "hopeless" legal cases and defending the powerless. His most famous trial occurred in 1925, when he defended teacher John T. Scopes for teaching evolution in the "Scopes Monkey Trial (1925).
