American kestrel.

The kestrel is a small falcon, well-known for its ability to hover in even the slightest wind. Kestrels hover over the ground at a height of around 35 to 65 feet and swoop down on prey, usually small mammals or lizards or large insects. Other falcons hunt while flying swiftly through the air. Although the American kestrel looks like "true" kestrels from Europe and Africa, DNA studies show that it is more closely related to the hobby (another small falcon from the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Australia).
