I refuse to post these to the front page of Wikipedia any more. But I will post them here. The article I wrote or assisted with is in bold.
Did You Know ... that when The Pentagon was being built in 1941, its site was so low that, for a time, the Army Corps of Engineers considered building a levee to protect it from floods -- but General Brehon B. Somervell (in charge of construction) decided instead to raise the ground by at least 8 feet to 18 feet above the average water level...and so Boundary Channel was dredged and widened in order to help provide this fill material?
