What a neat thing! The New York Times today reported on the use of animation in documentary film. The failure of Richard Linklater's 2006 sci fi film A Scanner Darkly seems to have put the kibosh on animation mixed with live-action when it comes to fiction film. (Unless you include that soft-core porn film "300"...)

So it's interesting to see documentary film -- a relatively conservative kind of filmmaking -- experimenting significantly here.
