Montparnasse Cemetery near Paris.

Created from three farms in 1824, it was once outside the city's boundaries. Frédéric Bartholdi, sculptor of the Statue of Liberty; poet Charles Baudelaire; playwright Samuel Beckett; Marcel Alexandre Bertrand, geologist who conceived plate tectonic theory; Art Deco sculptor Constantin Brâncuși; photographer Brassaï; automobile manufacturer André Citroën; Alfred Dreyfus, Jewish military officer falsely accused of treason; sociologist Émile Durkheim; writer Carlos Fuentes; sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon; playwright Eugène Ionesco; clothing designer Bernard Lacoste; author Guy de Maupassant; Jules Henri Poincaré, mathematician and physicist; composer Camille Saint-Saëns; philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre; Jean Seberg, American actress and civil rights activist; and author Susan Sontag are all buried here.
