A national poll in 1999 found that Martin Luker King, Jr. was the most respected American of the 20th century.

This is a scene from Washington, D.C., in 2012. Artwork of King was defaced by local residents.

Our great national failure to lift up the weakest, poorest, and down-trodden has led to the rejection of hope. It will lead to more, if we do not do the right thing.
