When the Animated Version Is Better Than The Live-Action Film:

After the first Hellboy movie, Guillermo del Toro got funding for a second film But he also did TWO animated films -- Hellboy: Blood & Iron and Hellboy: Sword of Storms. Both are excellent, with complex plots and decent animation.

Swords of Storms was released in September 2006, and featured Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz Sherman, and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien -- with Peri Gilpin as new character, Professor Kate Corrigan. Blood & Iron had the same cast, but included John Hurt as Professor Trevor Bruttenholm.

Frankly, I thought these animated films better than the second live-action movie!
