The Petrified Forest -- Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis, Leslie Howard.

Bogart plays Duke Mantee, a man so long in handcuffs he holds his hands toward the center. Having broken out of prison, he and two thugs take hostages in a café in the desert on the edge of the Petrified Forest National Monument, run by Davis. Howard plays the alcoholic poet competing for Davis' charms with the local athlete. A sandstorm rages as tempers flare, and minds break down...

All the action takes place, primarily, in one room. Bogart's performance is astounding. Howard played the role on stage, but demanded that Bogart be cast (which kickstarted Bogart's career).
