I refuse to post these to the front page of Wikipedia any more. But I will post them here. The article I wrote or assisted with is in bold.
Did You Know ... that Congress was able to pass the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973 after failing to do so the year before only because Rep. William M. Colmer declined to run for office (he was replaced as chair of the House Rules Committee by the much more liberal Rep. Ray Madden) and because Rep. Hale Boggs, the House Majority Leader, died in a plane crash in Alaska (which elevated Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill to that position)?
