Barry Fitzgerald, Howard Duff, Dorothy Hart, Ted de Corsia, and Don Taylor in The Naked City (1948).
One of the great policier films, which follows the legwork that two cops (old hand Barry Fitzgerald and young-'un Don Taylor) engage in after a floozy ex-model is killed. They slowly put the pieces together that lead them to one of the killers -- only to discover that he's dead.
One of the great, great films about New York City, filmed right down on the streets of the Bronz, Queens, Kings, and Brooklyn. The chase at the end is fantastic.
