William Hartnell, the First Doctor.
Most fans of the show probably know who he is, or have seen his photo. Almost no one is a fan of his episodes, because he's a curmudgeon, old, not sexy, not falling in love at the drop of a hat, and not running around like Bruce Willis on steroids.
But this man MADE Doctor Who. It would not exist without his amazing talent, his superb characterization, and his willingness to create a brand new, iconic character out of thin air.
Plus, he introduced the Daleks. Here, two classics meet! Back when being a Dalek meant "wet-your-pants freaking terror for 5 episodes"!!
