In the reimagined 2003 Battlestar Galactica, humanity is the only species around.
In the 1978 series, however, there were a wide range of alien races. None of them seemed interested in helping humanity, though.
Included in the gallery of weird and unusual races were these aliens with afro, dark skin, four eyes, and two mouths. They were singers in a casino on a planet visited by the Galactica in the premiere episode, "Saga of a Star World".
They are creepy, and made more so if you know that Mormon theology belives Africans to be "the seed of Cain" -- people so evil and sinful that they cannot be redeemed by God. Their black skin is a sign of their evil. YEEK. More recent Mormon theologians have argued that this does not apply to all African people, just a few.
