Diversity in science fiction films and television is oddly uneven. Much American sci fi is inclusive of people of African descent, but people of Asian descent are rather rare. Gender diversity is similarly uneven (how many leads are female? yeah), and age and sexual diversity are equally iffy.

Warehouse 13 is one of the few sci fi shows to be inclusive. In its third season (2011), the show added Aaron Ashmore -- who plays Agent Steve Jinx, a gay former FBI agent recruited for the Warehouse due to his ability to sense when someone is lying. In an even more surprising development, Ashmore was actually given a boyfriend. Unhappily, the character was "recurring" in Season 3 but upgraded to "starring" in Season 4.

Sy Fy Channel greenlit Warehouse 13 for a fifth and final season in May 2013. The final six episodes should air in 2014.
